We always hear how much elected officials earn to much money, well I'm in agreement with you. I've voted twice to reduce elected St. Clair Township officials. I feel that since I've been the St. Clair Township Supervisor, we are one of the most transparent Townships in Illinois, look us up at Stclairtownship.com
My 1st year in office, with the St. Clair Township Board of Trustees we voted to form an all volunteer park board to make suggestions to the regular board on a monthly basis. I couldn't do it without the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Rotary Club, and other volunteers meeting a few time throughout the year to clean out wild honeysuckle bushes and clean up the park. Trying to make the park a better place for the community. #BarnesforStateRep114
I introduced and voted to eliminate the St. Clair Township Assessor position due to a negotiated intergovernmental agreement with St. Clair County allowing them to continue to assess the township property for $1.00 a year. Savings St. Clair Township $$$$$$ that wouldn't need to be collected in taxes.
While serving the residents in st. Clair Township as their Supervisor I was able to upgrade Loop Creek Park, work on developing a childs play area in Centennial Park, along with maintaining and upgrading numerous sewer lines, and upgrading the work vehicles. Also, reduced the sewer rate, being one of the lowest if not the lowest rate in the county. My belief is that if you don't have the money than don't buy it. I was able to receive grants totally over $100,000 to help upgrade the parks.
